With a fine dry day, Saturday saw the return of the successful Falmouth Pub7s. And with a firm dry pitch saw what was probably some of the best sevens rugby played at the Recreation Ground in many years with 10 teams competing for the title of Falmouth Pub7s Champions 08.

Teams from Falmouth, Flushing, Fowey and Camborne were buoyed by a large and enthusiastic crowd supporting the teams competing for the £500 first prize.

This year was an even more fiercely contested event than the previous two years, with the plate final being fought out by two Falmouth pubs, The Boat House and The Wodehouse Rattlers with the Wodehouse eventually running out victors.

The cup was again a hard fought final with The Wodehouse Dogs from Falmouth facing the Lounge Bar from Camborne. With the scores tied at half-time this match could have gone either way but the Lounge Bar were the eventual winners, taking the cup back to Camborne for a second year.

As with previous years the event is a charity day with the proceeds this year going to the Children’s Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal and it is anticipated in the region of £500 will be raised for the charity.
